Washington, DC - Tuesday July 6

Ken had to work a little this day, so Sarah and I took the opportunity to go out to Pentagon City where there is a large 4 story shopping mall. This was one of the hottest days in DC, not a day to be walking around outside. The leisurely stroll in the nice cold AC was also about all my leg could handle.

We had lots of fun browsing and shopping and having lunch, and soon most of the day was already gone!

After getting home and resting for a while we took off all of us - it was time for a Ghost Walk we had booked in advance. We stopped for a nice quick dinner in the federal district, not far from the White House, before meeting up with our guide for the evening and the other participants.

The tour guide is actually an actress, and she was dressed in clothing similar to what they would have worn in DC earlier years. She explained the stories she would tell us were all verified by at least three independent people and that they were not allowed to embellish or make up things when telling the stories.

Sarah found something fun to sit on during one of the stops

The entire tour took place around Lafayette Square, which is directly in front of the White House. This was where the first settlements were, so naturally many people had come and gone in these houses. We got to hear some very interesting stories and picked up a little new history information along the way. Very interesting, but also a very HOT evening, so not so comfortable!

A closer look of the front

Some of the square was blocked off and there was secret service agents and vehicles all over, so it gave the entire thing a cool vibe to it. We got a very up close look at the White House as well, as well as a good dose of stories about the White House and the people that have lived there.

And yes, Barack Obama, the President himself, was home. There were lots of snipers on that roof!

Vad coola bilder på Vita Huset! Inte så ofta man ser så nära "turistbilder" utan ofta längre bort ifrån och/eller med en massa folk i bakgrunden.
